{"id":54,"date":"2012-05-24T20:27:38","date_gmt":"2012-05-24T20:27:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/deadpineapple.net\/?p=54"},"modified":"2014-04-03T20:29:23","modified_gmt":"2014-04-03T20:29:23","slug":"slow-progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deadpineapple.net\/?p=54","title":{"rendered":"Slow progress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It has been a while (nearly 5 months!!) since I posted an update on the Midget.\u00a0 Unlike my mate Crispin who is making progress on his\u00a0<a title=\"Peugeot 106 Rallye\" href=\"http:\/\/rallye-project.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">106 Rallye<\/a>, the Midget seems to be dragging on and on. With a weeks annual leave to use up I cracked on with the target being to get the underside epoxy coated and stone chipped and get the chassis back on to axle stands. However come day three I realised that this wasn&#8217;t achievable due to other dependencies.<\/p>\n<p>The first non chassis task was to modify the gearbox tail to position the gear lever further forward.\u00a0 The tail was removed and carefully measured and the cut lines marked.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/deadpineapple.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/type-9-pre-cut.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-55\" alt=\"type-9-pre-cut\" src=\"https:\/\/deadpineapple.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/type-9-pre-cut-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/deadpineapple.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/type-9-pre-cut-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/deadpineapple.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/type-9-pre-cut.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cutting commenced and almost immediately there were sparks from the rear cut &#8211; I&#8217;d just managed to clip the sleeved bearing. No problem really and once removed\u00a0 was cleaned up, the oil seal removed and then welded by a local chap.<\/p>\n<p>While it was away attention turned back to the chassis and more cleaning up in preparation for coating the underside was done.<\/p>\n<p>Today, while doing some more tweakng for the gearbox I managed to slice a finger on the cutting disc in the angle grinder.
